Taking a day off in the academy

While attending the police academy are you allowed to take a day off for a special occasion, like a kids bday, wedding?

I would say no. I wouldn't even ask if I were you. When I was at the academy the only time you could get away was for the birth of your own kid, a funeral in the immediate family.
