St Louis: Officer Who Raped Many Numerous Women Still a Licenced Cop

St Louis has been on the news a lot of late and having got that kind of attention, reporters have been very much interested in finding out more about their police officers. It appears from their findings that the St Louis police department has firmly embraced impunity and aren't willing yet to let go.

The police officer prior to joining the force [2006] he'd been a bar manager. It is alleged that as a bar manager, he drugged and raped several women. But that he went to the police academy and graduated after all that, seems to indicate that all those background which which are so important in weeding out the bad apples, don't mean much in St Louis which is probably the reason cops out there are so indisciplined, brutal and homicidal.

[the rapist's] old boss at Hrabosky’s told police, “It is well known in the bar industry that Blakeney had drugged and raped many other girls.â€
He was fired from the police department he worked but . . .

However, he was only fired, Blakeney is not facing any charges and he could be hired on at another department tomorrow.

I thought that all police officers needed to have a clean record with no arrests let alone convictions. I know states love making their own laws, but this maybe a case where the federal courts should make it a law that police officers cannot join if they have had a criminal record. I've just looked and this is what the website says in order to join the police force;

  • No felony convictions or unfavorable police record.

What does unfavorable mean?

I expect that unfavorable means just that. The thing is, despite admitting to these past rapes, no charges were ever brought against him so he wouldn't have had a record at all. Maybe it's time to extend the background checks to look at past allegations too.

The real shocker is that he was only fired and is free to apply to any other department and continue his career as a cop.

if they look at allegations, that means things they may not even have done could be held against them? I hope we are not so naïve as to expect the police to all be squeaky clean choir boys or dainty ladies. we cannot expect them to deal with the worst society has to offer without getting their hands dirty.
obviously, rape is never acceptable or 'unfavorable,' so if this officer was guilty he never should have been a cop and should be held accountable for his actions.

I think people are less likely to forgive Policemen and Women than any other profession or occupation because of their authority and direct interacting with the public. Therefore they are less likely to overlook any skeletons they might have in the closet. Now I definitely wouldn't want someone with that kind of background being a Police. People expect the Police's background to be almost spotless, and sometimes that's unreasonable but most of the time its necessary to have high character men and women representing Law Enforcement.

That's what you call "failed background checking" on the part of the police academy. What the hell man, you can never trust anyone now, even the police, or should I say, specially the police.

Turning a blind eye to the major issue at hand. I am not phased with the actions that are taken by the St. Louis police department.

Baffling to note that he isn't facing any charges and he was only fired,so which means he can be on any other department tomorrow.His license as a cop should be cancelled right away to instill trust in public..
