The suspect opened fire in the hallway

A student shot and killed another student and injured three others Wednesday prior to being disarmed, police said.

The incident happened around 10 a.m. at Freeman High School in Spokane County, Washington state.

County Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich stated the shooter was a student who had been armed with two weapons, allegedly a handgun and a rifle.

Authorities said the shooter was taken down by school custodian before first responders arrived on the scene. They have yet to release his name.

Three students taken to hospital

According to officials, the three wounded students were reported in stable condition at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center.

"We have three teenagers with us and they're all doing well. They're stable. One will be requiring some surgery this afternoon but that's it so we are thrilled to report that," said Dr. Moore.

The suspect is under eighteen and is still being questioned.

Police are still investigating. No other details were provided. We will update as soon as information becomes available.
