How long does it take to climb the ranks in the police department? Some people out there are overachievers, such as myself. Higher the rank, the bigger the pay.
 
That is what its all about. Police officers do not want to stick to being a officer they want to rise up to be the next chief of police. Its hard but no one can stay the lower ranks forever you gotta move up if you want to get paid more.
 
In this day and age, bravery and good deeds doesnt cut it. You need to have enough credentials to make it to the top. You need to have the required schooling in order to get a spot in the office. Of course if you have served in the UN as a peacekeeping officer then that is also an added factor for your promotion. As that will make you more qualified not just on paper but on experience as well.
