Movies and Television?

How many cops join the profession because they watched a movie or grew up seeing a television show that inspired them to be an officer? Those who do join because of this influence, are they later disappointed that the job is not like it is in the movies?
 
I think it would be really naive to go into a job using the media's example of how that job is. I can see it being that way when you're a child perhaps but as an adult you become aware pretty quickly that things aren't always as they seem.
