A Colorado man accused of kidnapping a 14-year-old girl from Connecticut has been arrested. The teen had been reported missing since August 25 where she was last seen in the backyard of her house.
Officials say Timothy Wind, 53, allegedly met the victim when she was 13 on a social website.
Authorities believe the suspect had planned the girl's abduction for more than a year after meeting her.
Police say Wind traveled to Hartford, Connecticut and took the girl on a honeymoon-style trip across the country. According to police records, Wind stopped in New York, New Jersey and Kansas before arriving in Longmont. The teen told authorities Wind brought her to the place where his parents first met.
Police received a tip from the FBI that the missing girl might be in Colorado. Agents informed investigators that searches on a computer used by the victim contained information pointing to Wind and an address in Longmont.
One of the victim's friends told law enforcement that the girl had declared to have a boyfriend named "Tim" for about a year prior to her alleged abduction.
“We don’t think she was taken forcefully, but she’s 14 years old,†Longmont Police Commander Jeff Satur said. “He’s 53 years old. That’s the inappropriate part of this.â€

The girl initially lied to authorities about her age and identity when they showed up at Wind's residence, then began crying and told them the truth.
The victim also told police the two slept together on an air mattress in the bedroom and she denied that Wind ever had sex with her, according to the report.
Timothy Wind was charged with second-degree kidnapping, sexual assault of a child, Internet sexual exploitation of a child and enticement of a child.
He appeared in court on Thursday, and bail was set at $100,000. Wind had not posted bail as of Thursday afternoon.
The girl has since been reunited with her mother and father after they flew out to Colorado.
"We are blessed she has been found," the family said. They also said to be "thrilled to have their daughter back" and thanked everyone who worked to find their little girl.
