Lieutenant Patrick Weatherford, 41, was shot in the line of duty on Monday, June 12, 2017.
The shooting was reported about 7:30 p.m. while Weatherford was responding to a vehicle break-in. He was rushed to the hospital shortly after the incident, where he later died.
Lt. Patrick Weatherford was a 15-year department veteran. In 2016, he was named Officer of the Year for Jackson County by the State Attorney General.
He is survived by his wife and children.
