A 5-year-old girl was hospitalized after she got trapped in a laundromat washing machine for almost five minutes and spun at high speeds, authorities said.
Officials say she is recovering from the injuries that occurred Tuesday night. The incident took place at a Houston laundromat. Apparently the girl tumbled around on a high-speed cycle before anybody had noticed she was inside the appliance.
Authorities say someone put coins into the machine but asked for a refund when it didn't start. After that the girl allegedly climbed into the machine and it began running.
“She was tumbling pretty fast in there, said witness Vance Mitchell. "One person walked by and said they saw something flopping around in there. They thought it was just a dress or something because it was moving pretty fast.â€

When they realized there was girl trapped inside, an employee turned off the power to the machine to stop it.
Several witnesses called 911 for help. "We need an ambulance. We have a little girl here, she was stuck inside a washer and it was on, but we got her out," one person told the dispatcher.
Another person called saying "It looks like she's going unconscious." "She has blood coming from her ears."
The girl was airlifted to a Houston hospital. Police did not release the name of the little girl. They said it wasn't clear who was supervising the girl in the laundromat and they are investigating.
