Fake IDs

So we all know that underage kids do have fake IDs made to buy alcohol or to get in 21 and over bars. Now when the authorities arrive in any situation, and a fake ID is presented to them, what does a police officer do? Do they confiscate the fake license or do they cite the underage individual? Is there a crime for having a fake ID?

I'm pretty sure that it's a crime, and the ID would be confiscated. Whether there might be any follow-up charges would probably depend on whether it's the teen's first offence.

Fake ID's in general are illegal and usage thereof is prohibited. If found guilty with using such illegal documents press charges may be filed against them depending on how serious the circumstances is. Others may think that a fake ID is not that a serious of a crime but it is under falsification of public documents and that is a grave offense.
