Do Mall Cops have the same power as regular cops?

People often clown mall cops and say they're not real cops. I have no idea if this is true or not, so I wanted to ask you all if mall cops have the same power as regular cops. If not, what are their restrictions?

I think they can definitely arrest people who would steal inside the mall. But they don't even have guns so I'm not sure what else they could do aside from that. I suppose they could always call for back up.

They are like the ERP guys who have to stay calm and low unless an emergency situation crops up.The mall cops don't even have guns and they need to call back up in case of any problem.I reckon, they are just "persons with authority to arrest" and not really "cops".

I don't think that mall cops have the same power as regular cops. For the most part, I think that they are just security guards. The thing is, they let the small amount of power that they DO have go to their heads, or at least that's how the stereotype goes.

Mall cops in many cases are from private security companies, so they don't have the same power, not even close, on in the facilities of the mall.

Mall cops are not really police officers, they are security guards. They have training to deal with the kind of thing you would be dealing with in a mall, mainly shoplifting. They can arrest shoplifters and probably anyone misbehaving in other ways or escort someone out of the building if they are causing a disturbance. I do not know the extent of their authority though. I know the only weapon I ever saw a mall security guard carry was a baton type thing.
