Detective Matthew Lawrence Tarentino was killed Tuesday, May 30, 2017 in a car crash as he drove to work.

Authorities stated a 68-year-old Pennsylvania man drove over a median into eastbound lanes and slammed head on into Tarentino’s vehicle, which flipped and then hit a third vehicle.

Tarentino was with the police department for five years, and was posthumously promoted to detective on Wednesday.

Matthew Tarentino, 29, leaves behind his Victoria, who is pregnant, and their two young sons Robert, 3, and Raymond, 2.
