Corporal Stephen J. Ballard was fatally shot Wednesday, April 26, 2017 in the parking lot of a convenience store in Bear, Delaware.

Authorities say 32-year-old Delaware State Police trooper was shot and killed as he approached a suspicious car in the parking lot of a Wawa store around 12 pm.

Stephen J. Ballard was with the Delaware State Police for 8-1/2 years. He leaves behind a wife and daughter.
