Some people are more callous these days in that they are more interested in being nosy than actually thinking about what they can do to help in the situation. I think people stay out of the way for fear of being sued if they try to help. There are hungry people and Lawyers out there who would dive in after your wallet any chance they got. I find that a lot of people are also more caring and compassionate than they used to be.
