Hi everyone. I live in California and I hope to be a police officer one day soon. I would like to know do I get paid while in the police academy?

My goal is to become a police officer. The local police department has a open spot to become a Police Cadet. I filled out an application about two weeks ago and I still haven't heard from them. Should I contact them to see what's going on or would that just annoy them?
