As everyone else has said, I'm sure it's all subjective for what it is. But the nature of a misdemeanor is that it's lower scale and easily reevaluated.
I think it's just something criminals will say to feel powerful, in a powerless situation. I think the police officers should know they always have the upper hand in the face of violence, with specialized training, gear, and backup.
I agree. I can see how people get all concerned with privacy and whatnot, but I personally have nothing to hide, especially in the face of the law. If I'm 100% transparent, and have nothing wrong going on, what can they possibly incriminate me for?
I think most people would be on board with non-lethal weapons. But you have to consider the type of mentality that comes with it. Maybe, since you're under the impression it's non-lethal, you'd use it more frequently in situations that it isn't required. It might be easier to pull the trigger on...
I never have been and never plan to be. I really disagree with the idea that anarchy is a good medium to convey a message of unhappiness. If you're not part of the solution then you're part of the problem.
That's a good idea. When I watch COPS and they have to chase someone, it seems like they're considerably restricted by their pants in particular. I know form-fitting is also appropriate and professional, but surely they can make the pants out of a stretchier material to allow for more movement.
I think police know what's at stake when they enroll in the position. That's not to say it's okay to lose your life for your job/career, but they know it's a risk they might have to face someday. I have no idea what it would feel like to have to make a choice when faced with protecting vs losing...
This weekend I helped a friend put on a festival sponsored by the city. It was an art festival and took place in our downtown. A police officer stopped by to ask what it was all about. He wasn't inquiring as if he was going to shut us down, he was just curious because he hadn't heard about it. I...
Like always, it's good to be on alert, but maybe not *that* alert. I think with all the issues we've had lately with guns and mass shootings, people are particularly on edge - but that doesn't mean you can go around shooting people. Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose?
I guess it depends on the individual, as well as the kid. Everyone has their own set of morals and values, and ideas for how a child should be raised. I don't think there's anything hard about having strict rules, it doesn't just teach children to not act out but also to obey authority and why.
Eh.... I'm torn. I think citizens should be proactive to an extent, but not take the law into their own hands. There's a group in Chicago called the Guardian Angels, who are a non-profit group that patrol for crime - but they call the police when there's something going on.
Ugh, I can't stand it. I don't think there's any place in the world for any type of cruelty, and cruelty against someone who can't defend themselves is that much worse.
