Officer Marci Williams will be making history when she becomes the department’s first ever female sergeant during a ceremony on Monday.
“I want to be able to represent women and represent them well,” said Williams.
Upland Police Department employ seventy-four law enforcement personnel, and only four of them are women.
“I think for little girls at school, women out in the work force within our city, I think it’s important for them to see women in the uniform,” said Chief Brian Johnson.
