Toledo Man Charged For Punching Baby In Face

A Toledo man was arrested after admitting to punching a 1-year-old girl. Markeese Cummings, 24, allegedly punched the infant in the face after she “continued crying for her mother,†who was in the shower, police said.
Cummings told police he visited Simone Day, mother of the young girl at her apartment on Monday. “Mr. Cummings and Ms. Day both informed this detective that they are sexual partners only,†said Detective Lawrence Anderson.
“After having sexual relations with Ms. Day, Mr. Cummings told this officer that the baby was in her room crying,†Anderson stated.
Cummings told investigators that the mother got up to take a shower. He then took the little girl downstairs to get a beverage. He said the baby continued to cry for her mom. Cummings said he then became frustrated and punched the girl on the right side of her face with his closed fist.
The 1-year-old girl is being treated for serious injuries.
Cummings was originally ordered held on $75,000 bond. However, Judge Timothy Kuhlman reset the amount at $500,000 after hearing additional information about the baby's condition.
The court docket read, “Over defendant’s objection, Prosecutor places additional information on the record that was previously unknown regarding condition of the alleged victim.â€
Cummings will next appear in court on Wednesday.

He looks a bit like Chris Brown. That explains how he loves punching someone who is helpless. He must have hit the baby real hard that the judge decided to make the 75 thousand dollars to 500 thousand. It is six times than the original.

This is insane; he should just have let the baby cry in the bed because she could not have been hurt by that. I must admit that this is a selfish mom who brings a sexual partner into her home with no regard of the safety of her baby. I hope that the baby will get well soon; I cannot even imagine the pain she went through being punched with a fist by a grown man. He deserves to be locked away.

I agree. I'm glad that the judge raised his bail amount, and hopefully, the mother is attuned enough to her child to have learned a lesson from this experience.
