Police in New York have arrested a teenager after he allegedly attacked and robbed a woman who was carrying an infant. Authorities say the incident happened around 12:45 p.m. last Friday and was caught on surveillance video.

According to police, 18-year-old Alonzo Brown was seen on video kicking the 24-year-old mother in the back with her 3-month-old baby strapped to her chest. He then took off with the victim’s cell phone.

The mother and baby were treated for minor injuries at Jacobi Medical Center and have since been released.

Police arrested Brown Tuesday morning after finding him hiding out at his uncle’s house in the Bronx.

Brown spoke to the media after police arrested him. He apologized for what he did and claims he didn’t know the woman was holding a baby until after she fell.

Brown is facing multiple charges, including robbery, attempted robbery, assault, and act in a manner injurious to a child.

This is a dangerous criminal who deserves to be punished severely for this crime. He should have taken the woman’s phone without hurting her if he had to steal it. A man kicking a woman demonstrates the amount of anger within him. The fact that he kicked a woman carrying a child demonstrates that he does not have any kind of compassion and should therefore not be living among the general population.

What a coward, he saw the woman as weak because she had to protect her baby, but he could have hurt him seriously.

He deserves a fair trial. If he is convicted, then his punishment should be 10,000 hours assisting in a woman's and children's homeless shelter. He should be paid minimum wage for those hours. He should have an irremovable implanted computer chip, and not an ankle bracelet.

Allison, that sounds like a great punishment for him, I hope whoever judges him sees it that way as well.
What a cowardly act, not only did he choose someone carrying a baby, he had to wait to strike for the back.

The familial bond between him and his mother is very weak. Which is why youths commit crimes and many people have no concern for babies. In parts of Africa, babies are shot to death by soldiers for crying. Again, the bond between the mother and child is very weak or non existent in these scenarios. This youth knows that what he did is wrong, but he feels a need to be cared for and there is no one who acts like they care for him. Not even his mother.

I think that the authorities need to have a good talk with his mother. He needs a connection with his mother to develop his faculties and somebody of authority need to point that out to his mother. Whatever she's doing, watching TV, worrying about attention from some guy or whatever, she needs to realize that she has a child who needs her love and attention. Somebody need to point that out to her.

Punishing him, putting him in jail or forced community service alone won't change his inner state and suffering and won't deter him from committing another offense. He needs a connection with his mother and he needs it now.

This kid is seriously disturbed. For someone to attack someone as a defenseless as this woman with her child is really disgusting. Unfortunately, you always have to look at the parents to see what has created this individual. I'm sure we'll hear more about this story.

I feel for youths who commit crimes because I came pretty close to assaulting someone myself when I was a teenager. And I had a criminal mind period, always thinking of ways I can commit fraud and get away with it. But I got a grip and pulled myself together, though not all youths are apt to do this. And what I found in my experience as a teen is the harsh view the world has of children, which is the main reason I pulled myself together. I realized that my life would be over, lost forever, and not a single soul would care, so why throw my life away in vain? So that a bunch of cold indifferent adults whose own lives are ridden in misery can say harsh things about me and I deserved to perish?

It was that realization that made me a stronger person.

That is a cheap shot to kick a woman in the back while she is carrying a baby. That is a thug punk I hope he gets what is coming to him. These kids don't have any parents that care about them they are a product of poverty and abuse. This is the only life they know monkey see monkey do.
