Police have caught the suspect wanted in the deadly shooting of a North Carolina police officer.

Irving Fenner, 23, is accused of killing Police officer Tim Brackeen of the Shelby Police Department on Saturday and has been on the run ever since.

Officer Brackeen was shot in the chest. He was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries on Monday morning.

Authorities say Fenner was seen Tuesday night on Oxford Street in Providence, Rhode Island. The FBI, U.S. Marshals and local police worked together and conducted a massive search.

Its been a long period of time where the detectives and the FBI agents all cultivating information, pretty good police work tracking him here,†Rhode Island State Police Col. Steven ODonnell said. And they surrounded the house and they talked him out, and he surrendered. He came out peacefully.

Irving Fenner was wanted on outstanding warrants for burglary, kidnapping, and robbery charges. He is now being charged with first-degree murder.
