A Utah Subway employee allegedly put illegal drugs into a Layton police sergeant's drink Monday, causing the officer to be hospitalized, authorities say.

The suspect, Tanis Lloyd Ukena, 18, was arrested Monday night. Ukena allegedly poured methamphetamine and THC into the officer's drink during a drive-thru transaction around 12:20 p.m. Monday.

"In the video, Ukena is seen filling the drink portion of the order at the drive-up fountain area," said police. "For some unknown reason, he walks away from the fountain machine out of camera view. He then returns to the drink where he is seen spending what seems to be an unusual amount of time getting it ready to deliver to the sergeant."

Tanis Ukena admitted to investigators that he had taken the sergeant's order. He also said that he filled his cup, however he "denied putting anything into the drink," police said.

Ukena was booked into the Davis County Jail for investigation of surreptitious administration of a substance, a second-degree felony.

The officer has since been released from the hospital and is resting at home. He will return to work after taking a few days to recover. Authorities declined to release his name.
