The Occidental College Republican Club found a memorial it built for the victims of 9/11 vandalized over the weekend of the 15th anniversary of the terror attacks. The group had planted 2,997 flags, one for each person who died, in the campus' quad and discovered each one had been crushed, snapped and placed in the garbage. Club members say they went to rebuild the site and were later confronted by vandals who repeated the actions in front of them.
