  • STOCKTON (CBS13) – The Stockton Police Department has announced that a police officer involved in the May 28 crash along El Dorado Street has died.
Officer Scott Hewell, 33, was one of two officers inside of a squad car that crashed in the early morning accident. The two were responding to assist in a shots-fired call. For an unknown reason, while en route to the scene, their car drove into the center median and into a tree.

It's sad when an officer has to lose his life trying to save another person's life. These incidents are the sad reminders of how dangerous every moment on duty is for a cop. That's why we should not take police officers for granted and should appreciate them.

That is very depressing its like the grim reaper chose him to take to the heavens. He was responding to a shots fired call and you know how depressing those calls are since you are trying to save those people before things get worse. I think this was a cop doing his job and did not deserve to die.

Ah..Sad..it hurts when you think of people trying to save some one else's life lose their own.Cop's duty is surely dangerous and this only justifies it all the more.he really didn't deserve to die and he was only answering a call to shots being fired.Quite depressing..RIP..!!

It's tragic, an officer, or anyone for that matter should never lose their lives protecting the public.

Why is it that the good people doing his or her jobs are the ones to die? I hope that the officer's family if he had any of his own are getting support for their lost.

This is really sad. I don't like hearing about police officers dying like that. It is so brave of them to risk their lives to help others only to end up dying in the process. I feel sorry for the officer's family and friends for losing the officer the way they did.
