The fire that destroyed a part of the New Jersey boardwalk last week was accidental, officials say.
"It was not manmade," one of the of sources said of Thursday's fire in Seaside Park and Seaside Heights, N.J., without detailing what investigators found.
Another source said the blaze was electrical.
The fire started Thursday afternoon, damaging dozens of businesses along the boardwalk. It was another blow to a stretch of the Jersey Shore previously slammed by Superstorm Sandy in October 2012.
"We lost a place that has provided generations of memories to our citizens, but we will rebuild," New Jersey Governor Chris Christie said Friday. "We'll make new memories for our families, because that's what we do."
Authorities scheduled a news conference Tuesday to announce their findings.
