Police survalience/presence online

It seems that some people think that their anonymity is safe online, and they can post, say and go anywhere they want on the web without a backlash on themselves. I have heard numerous news segments where someone was tracked online, if the authorities wanted them bad enough. What sort of police presence do you think "patrols" the internet? I know programs like spider crawlers exist, and that's not what I mean. Are there people in law enforcement that peruse the net?

Probably, but I would think that this kind of activity probably involves people higher up than the police force. Considering the Pariot Act and everything that Snowden has leaked so far, there are probably people that are doing surveillance activity online. I guess police can access information with a warrant.

Due to the increased levels of e-commerce,the threat of cyber crime is real and we can only ignore it at our own peril. I have had of police units which are specifically trained to deal with this emerging threat and at least we can rest assured that there's someone watching for any illegal activity online.

Well, I guess it would be natural that the police would surveillance the Internet, but I feel pretty chill with it, because I don't think I pose a threat to any nation's security. I am just a man, not a terrorist.

It's crazy how fast they can act, though. Once, a girl said on Twitter, as a joke, that she was going to kill Obama. Within hours, she got identified and taken into questioning.
