SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio - Pako did what he was trained to do that night in June 2016. He distracted a gunman who was pointing his weapon at police. The man shot Pako instead.
A chase ended up in Springfield Township. Stop sticks disabled Tyler Jones' car. He jumped out and ran, pointing a gun at cops. That's when Pako ran him down and bit him. Jones shot Pako who fell, got up and bit him again. Jones was shot by police but survived. Pako's handler, Officer Jim Scheeler, said, "Absolutely saved my life and other officers lives he did his job distracted the suspect."
