Santa Clarita Valley detectives are looking into how pictures of a man and woman appeared on a Santa Clarita woman's online account a couple of days after thieves allegedly broke into her home through a window and ransacked the place.
Detectives on Wednesday released the picture of the couple, which they described as "persons of interest" that mysteriously appeared the victims cloud account.
Authorities said the two people had been identified by late Wednesday night, however they were still trying to figure out how their photos ended up on the victim’s account.
"It is unclear whether the couple was involved in the burglary, purchased the stolen device or received it as a gift," said Deputy Joshua Dubin of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
According to authorities, the victim returned home and noticed her front door was unlocked and her kitchen window screen had been cut open.
The victim reported electronics, jewelry, cash and other property was taken during the burglary.
A few days later, she went into her cloud account and saw pictures in stream depicting two strangers that she did not recognize. “She said, ‘I don’t know who these people are,'†Dubin said.
Deputy Dubin said as of now they were not calling them suspects, they are persons of interest. However they would like to find out how the two of them ended up on this victim’s stolen property in the cloud.
"Did they buy stolen property? I don't know. Or are they the residential burglary suspects?" Dubin said. "There needs to be an explanation as to why their selfies are showing up on this person's cloud account."
