Louisville Metro Police Department Chief Steve Conrad said they are investigating a shooting in the 2600 block of Magazine Street.
Chief Conrad stated a police officer responded to a 911 call of a man allegedly doing drugs next to an abandoned house around 11:30 a.m.
When the police officer arrived, the suspect walked inside the home. Two more police officers arrived to the scene. All three police officers entered the house to locate the man.
As the police officers were searching the home, one of the officers discovered the man hiding behind a mattress that was standing up against a wall. The officer ordered the man to show his hands and then fired one shot, hitting him in the stomach.
He was transported to the hospital where he underwent surgery. The police officer that was involved in the shooting was suspended pending the outcome of the investigation.
