A Chicago police officer was injured after a car chase that started on West Side and ended in the western suburbs Saturday morning, police said.
Officers said the incident began when they attempted to pull over Kerry Holoman after seeing him commit a traffic violation.
Police stated Holoman refused to show proof of insurance or his driver’s license. They said he then drove onto the sidewalk, striking the police officer and running over his foot.
He led the police on a six-mile chase, and eventually crashed his car. They caught the suspect after he tried fleeing on foot.
The injured officer had swelling and bruising in his left foot, he was taken to Rush Hospital where he was treated and released.
Holoman was arrested and charged with felony counts of unlawful use of weapon; felon possession/use of firearm, aggravated fleeing, aggravated battery of an officer and criminal damage to government property. Police also charged him with misdemeanor counts of unlawful damage to a highway, leaving the scene of an accident and operating an uninsured vehicle.
