Cedric Anderson, the suspected gunman behind the murder-suicide at North Park elementary school had a short, tumultuous marriage with Karen Smith before he killed her on Monday.
The marriage quickly came to an end when Smith, 53, left him around a month and a half after their January wedding, said family members and police.
Authorities stated Anderson, 53, had a history of weapons, domestic violence and possible drug charges.
"Anderson was arrested four times between 1982 and 2013, but was never convicted in any of the cases," said San Bernardino Police Chief Jarrod Burguan.
Police said Anderson left a note. He talked about his relationship with Smith. He wanted closure and stated that he felt disrespected, according to Burguan.
