A French mother, Sabrina Bonner, 25, has been sentenced to a maximum 20 years in jail.
Her boyfriend, 31-year-old Lionel Barthelemy, who has been jailed since August 2009 for violence, also received the same sentence from the court.
They both have admitted to multiple counts of rape and sexual assault of the boy, who is now eight years old.
Bonner, blindfolded her for year old son during several visits to the Toul detention center between 2009 and 2010 so her boyfriend Lionel Barthelemy, 31, could have sex with him.
Bonner told police that she only carried out the assaults on her son under the orders and threat of violence from her boyfriend Barthelemy.
She was accused of holding down her young son while the stepfather raped him repeatedly in a prison visiting room. The two are accused of covering the room's windows with black garbage bags to block the view of guards.
Barthelemy recorded the vile scenes with a cellphone, including the rape in the visiting room at the Toul detention center in eastern France so he can watch them while he was alone in prison.
Bonner gave herself up to police in May 2011, just before Barthelemy was going to be released from prison.
“The behaviour of Sabrina Bonner is not even that of an animal towards its child,' said prosecutor Gilles Delorme, who also described Barthelemy as 'a sadist in the purest formâ€.
Yannick Pheulpin, the lawyer representing the victim questioned why the prison guards didn’t stop, or even notice, this horrible act taking place during what was supposed to be a supervised visit.
He said he is now going to initiate legal action against the prison to account for the suffering of the young boy.
"Mrs Bonner made herself an accomplice to the crime by bringing her son to the visiting room twice on the same day: once in the morning when a first rape took place and a second time in the afternoon, knowing perfectly well that it was going to happen again," Pheulpin said.
"She will not try to minimise her responsibility," her lawyer, Dominique Bergmann, said.
