A man who set himself on fire on Washington DC's National Mall in front of tourists and joggers has died from his injuries, a Washington police spokesman said on Saturday.
Witnesses said they saw the man pour a can of petrol on himself before setting himself on fire Friday evening.
"Due to the severity and the nature of his injuries, he's not been identified," D.C. police spokesman Araz Alali said.
Authorities are going to identify him by using DNA and dental records, Alali said.
Alali said authorities are investigating the motive for the reason of the self-immolated.
