According to authorities in Bellingham, Washington, a man who was annoyed with his neighbor’s dog barking, grabbed out his gun and fatally shot the dog.
However police say David William Latham, 55, apparently shot the wrong dog. Authorities said the suspect was upset about dogs in the area barking continuously.
Loyce Andrews said her Welsh Corgi, Molly, died in her arms in her backyard. "He just came up to the fence and shot her in the chest," Andrews said. "I held her the whole time she was dying; she was on the grass. She was screaming and panting."
Andrews said both her dogs were not barking when Latham walked into her backyard. "It's a horrible, horrible way to do die. You don't do that. I don't care whose dog it is, you don't do that," Andrews said. "It's senseless, it's ridiculous, it's incomprehensible."
Her husband, Cary, told police she was with Molly by the fence and witnessed shoot his dog. "I couldn't believe what I just saw. He turned and just faced me and just gave me this look like, 'I just shot your dog,'" Cary said.

Police Lt. Bob Vander Yacht said Latham admitted he killed the dog and that "something made him go over the edge, beyond reason."
Latham appeared before in court on Monday. He pleaded not guilty to animal cruelty, reckless endangerment and brandishing a firearm.
Prosecutors asked for the bail to be set at $50,000, saying he is a danger to the community. The judge said out he does not have a violent criminal history.
And he doesn't beleive Latham is a danger to the neighborhood. He ordered him to stay away from the victims. He banned him from having firearms, and prohibited him from having any alcohol or drugs.
