A 36-year-old man who allegedly killed his mother walked into a small town convenience store carrying her severed head. Once inside the store, the suspect stabbed a 66-year-old clerk.
Other store employees tackled Joshua Lee Webb and held him down until police arrived.
"He didn’t say anything after he was subdued," said Sandy Police Chief Ernie Roberts. "He was in like a catatonic state, wasn’t speaking to anybody."
The clerk was flown to the local hospital. He is recovering and currently in stable condition, according to Sandy Police.
The suspect, Webb, was taken into custody and then transported to a hospital for evaluation.
