Authorities arrested and charged a Florida man for making a false bomb threat that prompted the Jacksonville International Airport to be evacuated and closed for over five hours.
Zeljko Causevic, 39, reportedly went up to the TSA agents and told them he had a bomb in his backpack.
It was just a hoax Tuesday night, authorities said. The suspect only had in his backpack was a small luggage scale, a couple of batteries, a microchip and a cellphone.
Catherine Swan-Clark who was being screened at the time heard the suspect talking to the TSA agents.
“So you’re telling me you have a bomb?†Swan-Clark heard a Transportation Security Agency agent ask him. “And he responded yes, ‘I have a bomb.’â€
She noticed the TSA agents gather around him very quickly.
“He was calm the whole time,†she said.
“I just wanted to move away from that area,†she said. “It was very scary.â€
Causevic was booked early Wednesday and is being held on $1 million bail.
He was charged with making a false report about planting a bomb and possessing a hoax bomb.
The airport reopened Tuesday evening, however traffic was still disrupted on Wednesday morning.
