Longest Shift?

Just curious. What's the longest shift you've ever been on? I've talked to some cops and they sometimes, depending on the situation, will continue to work well into a double shift. Times of crisis and shorthanded on manpower is the usual culprit.

The longest shift for a cop or any person for that matter would be 24 hours straight duty. After that if you would still go about your shift without any form of rest a person will become unproductive for work. You cannot function clearly without any rest. You will be unable to perform security and safety function if you are too tired to do so..

As stated above..it obviously is 24 hrs where you never even have the time to catch a break.
But yes they often get to take rest after a tiring shifts,mostly a 8 hr sleep and some extra hrs of rest.
In my state cops never work over time without a reason and they often ensure they get their breaks..so no worries in here.
