The New York City Police arrested one biker and continue to hunt for other suspects of a motorcycle group who they say attacked a driver after chasing his SUV through Manhattan.
Alexian Lien was driving with his wife and 2-year-old daughter when the terrifying road rage incident happened.
Christopher Cruz, 28, has been charged with reckless endangerment, reckless driving, endangering the welfare of a child and menacing, police said.
He swerved in front of Alexian Lien's Range Rover on the Henry Hudson Parkway and stopped short, causing the 33-year-old driver to bump the biker's back tire, police sources said.
There is video of the incident, which appeared to be taken from a camera mounted on biker’s helmet.
You can see on the video the bikers surrounding the Range Rover one of the motorcyclists is seen riding alongside the SUV looking at the driver’s side window. The biker then moves in front of the vehicle and suddenly slows down, causing a collision, police said.
Fearing for the lives of his family, Lien took off, running over a motorcycle before the group gave chase.
The gang did catch up to the Lien and one of the bikers opened the door to the truck, forcing Lien to take off again.
“They take their helmets and they start to dent his car and apparently his tires are slashed there,†Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said.
Eventually Lien got stuck in traffic and that is when they caught up to him again, this time ripping him out of the car and beating him.
You can see some of the bikers get off their motorcycles and walk over to the vehicle.
One of the riders is seen in the video jumping off his bike, taking off his helmet and using it to smash in the driver’s side window.
Police said at this time the video stops, however the beating of Lien went on.
“He got off his bike and started attacking the person in the Range Rover with his helmet, breaking the windows and after they got him out of his car, they beat him up,†said witness Christopher Quinones.
Police said Lien was taken to the hospital where he was given stitches to his face. His wife and child were no hurt in the incident. One of the bikers suffered two broken legs and other severe injuries when the truck ran over him while another suffered a leg injury.
Authorities are looking at the video to determine if there going to be any more charges that will be filed.
"The investigation is on going," Commissioner Kelly said.
