Do You Belong To a Neighborhood or Community Group?

I don't actually go out and socialize with most of the people in my neighborhood in person, but I do belong to a couple of online groups where we post what's going on, discuss crime, offer free items, talk about things such as traffic issues, construction, and the like. I think it's a good idea to know what's going on, and it's comforting to be able to check the group site if I hear loud noises, etc.

I have also signed up with Nixle | Building Stronger Communities Together for my area, to be notified of major crimes, community alerts, etc.

Do y'all belong to any groups to keep up with what's going on in your areas?

I don't belong to any neighborhood groups. To be honest I'm a solitary person and attending meetings would certainly not be the sort of thing I'd look forward to every weekend. Yes I've heard that they have such groups here but I know that I wouldn't gain much whether I joined any of the groups or not.

Where my parents live, neighborhood watch is more of a 'look out for one another' community. There are no meetings, but people do look out for any suspicious people or vehicles. As it is a cul-de-sac, all the neighbors know one another and it's more of an informal thing.

I am not part of any community group, but I wish I were. It's always very useful to have people you can rely on and vice versa, in times of need or for security reasons. Luckily for me at this stage, I live in a gated community with security at the gate. It's fairly safe, so it's enough for now :)

I wish they would gate off my community. It's not an expensive place to live in relation to some others in the area, but some neighbors and I'd like it gated more for safety and security, as you mentioned. We have a Facebook group, which is very easy to access/post in, etc., then there's this site, and you could join and see if any of your neighbors are in it. The good thing about nextdoor is you can also see nearby neighborhoods, and it's all mapped out. nextdoor.com/ if the link doesn't work, just google next door as one word, and it should come up.
