James Lee DiMaggio the suspect in the kidnapping of a California teen after he killed her mother and younger brother named the girl's grandmother as the beneficiary of his life insurance policy.
DiMaggio left $112,000 to Hannah Anderson's paternal grandmother, said a family spokesman Andrew Spanswick.
DiMaggio took off his sister, Lora Robinson, and put the grandmother on the policy. He told his sister that he felt the relationship between the girl’s parents wasn’t stable and they might get a divorce, Spanswick said.
Robinson called Hannah's father, Brett Anderson, on Friday to inform him about the benefit.
"They had a long conversation about their mutual loss, trying to make sense of what happened, and neither of them had an explanation," Spanswick said. "Brett seemed to recognize that Lora was as much a victim in this as everyone else. He wished her the best."
The 40-year-old known as Uncle Jim to Hannah and her 8-year-old brother, Ethan.
After a six-day manhunt that ended in the Idaho wilderness, FBI agents killed DiMaggio.
