Dad Was Driving Drunk When Kids Jumped Out Of Car

Three children jumped from a moving vehicle because their drunken father was behind the wheel and scaring them, according to a police report.
Dimitri Nicholas, 41, from Ohio who was visiting Palm Coast, Florida was arrested Monday after Flagler County deputies say the suspect was allegedly driving drunk with his three kids in the vehicle.
The incident began around 4 p.m. when Nicholas was taking his 11-year-old son and his two 9-year-old daughters out to eat. The children told authorities their father was driving erratically, he was accelerating and decelerating frequently and swerving off the road.
They told the deputies they jumped out while he was driving "relatively slow" because they were really scared. The children said their father just drove off. The kids then walked to a neighbor's house where they called for help.
Authorites say Nicholas showed up four hours later walking down his street in an intoxicated state. Police say he was having trouble keeping his balance and a “strong odor†of alcohol on his breath.
Nicholas was charged with felony child neglect. He was sent to the Flagler County Inmate Facility and later released on $2,500 bail.

If a father can do this to his own kids, what will they expect from strangers? It is unfortunate that kids cannot choose the people to become their parents. I wonder why this man felt the need to scare these kids; he could just have left them at home. These are clever kids who deserve a loving home, I hope that they are placed in one.
