Can the police go and find an expunge record when your applying?

I would like to apply for to a police department, but I have record expunged. Should I disclose this info, what about they don't find any record of it. Should I tell them or just let it go? Can the police go and find an expunge record when your applying? I thought once it is expunged, nobody will know about it?

I would disclose this when applying, because if you don't and they find it you will never get hired.
