British Embassy celebrated the 200th anniversary of burning the White House yesterday. Sunday marked 200 years since British soldiers set fire to the White House during the War of 1812, and the British embassy in Washington celebrated in style and very little class.
On Sunday, the @UKinUSA account posted a picture of a cake with a scaled-down White House on top, with a caption that read: “Commemorating the 200th anniversary of burning the White House. Only sparklers this time!â€
The backlash from Americans on Twitter prompted an apology from the British Embassy.
We meant to mark an event in history & celebrate our strong friendship today,’ a message from the Embassy posted explaining the incident.

I guess it is better not to look so closely at people because then you will discover that they are indeed crazy. They celebrated the burning down of the White House 200 years ago? Please, that portrays how idle they are. They can create a holiday or something to celebrate if they must. By the way how genuine was the apology?

I really don't think this was a good idea. Why would you celebrate an event in history such as this? It's useless cause it did not achieve anything lasting for the brits. Bad move.
