The biker who was involved in the assault to SUV driver Alexian Lien, gave both middle fingers to photographers in court Sunday.
Reginald Chance, 37, who reportedly has 21 prior arrests for charges ranging from drugs to robbery to gun possession was ordered held in lieu $100,000 bond or $75,000 cash.
Prosecutors said Chance, had a key role in the beating of driver Alexian Lien, who ran over another biker feared for his and his families life.
Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Samantha Turino acknowledges Chance didn’t hit the victim, however he "set into motion a chain of events that resulted in the driver being dragged out of his vehicle and beaten" when he took his helmet and broke the window on the SUV.
His defense lawyer Gregory Watts told the court that Chance’s anger was justified, given that Lien had just run over a fellow biker while trying to get away from the group of motorcyclists.
“It is entirely reasonable to try and identify the driver after a motor-vehicle accident,†Watts said.
“After the window was smashed, he got on his motorcycle and left,†Watts said. “There are still photographs that confirm he was not there during the assault.â€
Police are still searching for more suspects.
Lien has not been charged with any crime.
