Alameda County sheriff’s deputy Michael Foley is currently in critical condition after being hit by an inmate bus that was being driven by a co-worker.
The incident happened around 6 a.m. Wednesday morning at the transportation yard behind the Santa Rita Jail.
Sgt. Ray Kelly stated it was dark at the time. The deputy who was driving the bus told officials he didn't see Foley.
The deputy who hit Foley is “devastated” by what happened and “feels tremendous pain,” said Sgt. Ray Kelly.
Deputy Foley is being treated at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek.
