Abandoned Pit Bull On the Verge of Euthanization Gets 2nd Chance as Police Dog. An abandoned pit bull, Apollo, was scheduled to be euthanized because no one wanted to adopt him. That's when a narcotics K-9 trainer stepped in and rescued him, but his life still wasn't easy. Officers passed over Apollo for a year because they wanted more traditional police dogs. Now he's found a home with the Tukwila Police Department where he's quickly become a local favorite. Apollo graduated first in his class.
