Luigi Mangione, the man accused of fatally shooting UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, has waived extradition and is expected to be returned to New York as soon as Thursday, according to his attorney.

A Pennsylvania judge must either accept the extradition waiver or proceed with a hearing scheduled for Thursday morning, following a separate session to address local charges against Mangione. If the extradition paperwork is in order, Mangione will be transferred to New York by the NYPD. He could be arraigned as early as Thursday.

“I’m ready to bring him back here and ensure justice is served,” New York Governor Kathy Hochul said Wednesday.

A special edition of *20/20*, airing Dec. 19 at 10 p.m. ET on ABC, will explore the murder of Thompson and the manhunt that led to Mangione’s arrest. The segment will trace Mangione’s journey from Ivy League student to the alleged killer.

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) revealed that he spoke with billionaire Elon Musk about the 1,500-page government funding bill after Musk expressed opposition to it. According to Johnson, both Musk and the incoming head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Vivek Ramaswamy, understand the "impossible" position he's in.

Musk criticized the bill on Wednesday morning via his social platform, X, calling it "a bigger piece of pork" and urging that "this bill should not pass."

Addressing the criticism, Johnson told *Fox News*'s *Fox & Friends* that he had spoken with Musk and Ramaswamy the night before about their concerns.

“I was communicating with Elon last night,” Johnson said on Wednesday. “Elon, Vivek, and I were on a text chain together, and I was explaining the background of this. Vivek and I talked almost until midnight, and he said, ‘Look, I get it. We understand you’re in an impossible position. Everybody knows...

Two of New York City's most high-profile criminal defendants share one notable connection: Their lawyers are married to each other.

Karen Friedman Agnifilo, who was hired on Saturday to represent Luigi Mangione, accused of murdering CEO Brian Thompson, is married to Marc Agnifilo, who is defending Sean "Diddy" Combs in his federal sex trafficking and racketeering case.

Friedman Agnifilo, a former top prosecutor in the Manhattan District Attorney's office, left her position in December 2020. She recently joined her husband's law firm, Agnifilo Intrater, earlier this month, according to her LinkedIn profile.

The firm is already handling heavy caseloads. Marc Agnifilo and his team have been preparing Combs' defense while unsuccessfully attempting to secure his release on bail.

The Agnifilos have been well-established figures in the New York legal scene for over a decade. During her time in the DA's office, Friedman Agnifilo earned a reputation for her work on high-profile cases...
